A minimum of 75% CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average; equivalent to a grade of 2.5 in the German grading system) or a comparable grade – alternatively, a GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score of at least 500 – is required.

 

Proof of subject-specific knowledge

• Mathematics: at least 15 ECTS
• Technical Mechanics: at least 10 ECTS
• Fluid Mechanics / Hydrodynamics: at least 5 ECTS

Note: The language certificate must not be older than two years at the time of application. Some embassies (e.g. in India) may require certificates issued within the last year. Please check with your local embassy for up-to-date requirements.

 

Exceptions and special cases

• The acquisition of a German general higher education entrance qualification (“Abitur” or “Allgemeine Hochschulreife”) is recognised as proof of sufficient English language skills.
• If your bachelor’s degree was taught entirely in English, you don’t need an additional language certificate.
• Native English speakers are exempt from this requirement.
